ETSI Workshop on Quality of Service, Quality of Experience

ETSI TC STQ, User Group and TC HF are very pleased to invite you to a workshop on Quality of Service, Quality of Experience / User experience, focusing on speech/multimedia conference tools.
You are receiving this email, as you attended an STQ workshop in the past. Please accept our apologies if you receive multiple copies.

The event will take place in the Espaces de Sophia in Sophia Antipolis, France, on 21st and 22nd of September 2010.

Bus shuttles (to and from the hosting site) in the Sophia Antipolis area will be organized and further information will be provided closer to the date of the event.

(http://www.etsi.org/WebSite/NewsandEvents/QoSQoEUserExperience.aspx)

In the context of the Green Agenda, teleconference meetings appear to be a potential alternative to physical meetings. However experience shows that the quality of teleconference services offered to the users is of major concern. The definition of Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) required for such systems is a challenge.

We are calling for papers dealing with any of the subjects below:

· Users expectations

· Feedback from users of their experience of the applications in various uses (eg medical teleconference, within vehicles, in the context of home networking, Standardization Bodies, in the educational domain …).

· What are the benefits of 3D technologies for teleconferencing?

· What are the needs for standardization to increase the number of implementations and tools?

· How to implement performance testing methodologies in the context of teleconferencing?

· What will be the next generation of electronic tools?

· What are the requirements and quality criteria for video when added to speech communications?

· What are the minimum requirements for rooms characteristics used for teleconferences?

· What are the approaches of other SDOs when implementing and using electronic tools for meetings?

· Conference bridges. What are the consequences when user equipment implement different bandwidth (narrowband, wideband, super wideband)?

Abstracts should be sent using the events before 5th June 2010.
Abstracts should not exceed 200 words.

Participation in the workshop is free of charge, and open to everyone !

Register now !

Should you have any query, please contact events

TEMU 2010: Special Session Advances in Multimedia Delivery

TEMU 2010 – INT. CONF. ON TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND MULTIMEDIA JULY 14-16, 2010, CHANIA, CRETE, GREECE
http://www.temu.gr

Special Session: “Advances in Multimedia Delivery” (AMD)

Scope

Latest advances in multimedia content encoding and representation, including HDTV, 3DTV, multi-view video and associated added-value interactive services, are offering to the end user a truly rich multimedia experience. On the other hand, the scope of media delivery itself is expanding beyond traditional broadcast TV to active content sharing among all users. It is thus self-evident that the reliable, efficient and timely handling of all these enhanced multimedia services is not only a sine qua non but also a significant challenge for new wired and wireless networking architectures. Future networks, at core and access level, should be able to provide to the end user ubiquitous access (at home, at office and on the move) to both live and on-demand rich media content. Towards this aim, a significant number of research efforts are being carried out throughout the world.

The following research areas fall within the scope of this Special Session: * Next-Generation infrastructures for multimedia delivery

* Satellite and terrestrial multimedia broadcasting systems * Mobile TV
* Interactive broadcasting
* IP and non-IP transport and session control protocols
* IPTV platforms and standards
* Web Radio and WebTV
* Peer-to-peer streaming architectures
* Scalable media transmission
* Error protection and concealment
* AAA (Authentication, Authorization, Accounting) issues
* Security, encryption and digital rights management for multimedia content * Quality of Service and Quality of Experience
* Market trends and business aspects

We invite original contributions that are not submitted concurrently to another conference. Both PDF and source (Word, LaTEX) versions of the paper, including figures and tables should be submitted electronically to any of the Special Session chairs (see e-mails below). Accepted papers will be formatted according to the TEMU instructions.

Session Co-Chairs

Dr Georgios Gardikis (gardikis@epp.teicrete.gr), Technological Educational Institute of Crete, Greece
George Xilouris (xilouris@epp.teicrete.gr), Technological Educational Institute of Crete, Greece
Dr Harilaos Koumaras (koumaras@iit.demokritos.gr), NCSR “Demokritos”, Greece

Important Dates

Full papers submission: March 20, 2010
Notification of acceptance: April 16, 2010
Camera ready papers: May 8, 2010
